Applicant(s) and Visitor

  • Name(s) and contact information of the person(s) submitting the proposal.
  • Proposed visitor's name and affiliation
    • Short (1-page) biography of the proposed visitor, highlighting exceptional qualifications and noting key publications or awards.
    • Optional: website address for complete biographical information.
2.

Proposal

  • Event Title
  • Dates on Campus
  • Narrative. Describe the impact this visit will have on the UIUC community of scholars; planned interaction with your unit's faculty and students and in cross-disciplinary venues; and the community of scholars who will most benefit and how.
  • Budget. Financial responsibility for Miller Visitors is shared by your unit and the GAM Programs Committee. Your unit is expected to make a substantial commitment to the costs of the visit. 
3.

Letters

Unit head's letter is required indicating the financial commitment of your unit and how this visit will impact on the unit as a whole.

Please request three (3) letters from different departments or other organizations/universities.

  • Applicant prepares request for support. After submitting your application, you continue on into the website to generate email messages for your primary unit head and each of three (3) referees. These auto-generated emails attach/enclose the Instructions to Referees with your narrative. Just follow the prompts and click on the "Send this message" button.
     
  • You are encouraged to contact your primary unit head and three (3) referees ahead of time and ask them to prepare letters of support. The selection committee cannot guarantee consideration of letters received after the deadline.
