Unit head's letter of nomination is required. The letter should indicate why you are being nominated and include an assessment of your accomplishments. Units may nominate up to two (2) promising young faculty.

Three Referees. Provide the name, institution/organization, phone number, and email address for referees. All referees must be widely recognized scholars or professionals who are familiar with your scholarly accomplishments. At least two referees should come from institutions other than UIUC. One of the two letters MUST be from someone who did NOT serve on your dissertation committee or as your postdoc advisor. The last referee may be a UIUC faculty who is not in your unit or the Center for Advanced Study.

These auto-generated emails attach/enclose the Instructions to Referees with your narrative. Just follow the prompts and click on the "Send this message" button.

  • You are encouraged to contact your primary unit head and three referees ahead of time and ask them to prepare letters of support. The selection committee cannot guarantee consideration of letters received after the deadline.
