- Short (1-page) biography of the proposed
visitor, highlighting exceptional qualifications
and noting key publications or awards. Briefly
discuss the visitor's expertise and ability
to communicate to a broad interdisciplinary
campus audience and public at large.

Proposal
- Event
Title and summary. Provide a narrative
summary (50-60 words) of the speaker's proposed
presentation on campus which will be used for
publicity purposes.
- Dates
on Campus.
- Lecture
Dates: List two (2) preferred
dates and times for the lecture.
- Narrative (1-2
pages)
- Describe
the lecture and its appeal to a wide range
of departments or units. Please indicate
the units which might specifically be interested
in this visit. NOTE: Material presented
should be accessible to the non-specialist.
What impact will this event have on the
University of Illinois community and community
at large? Previous lecturers have (a) demonstrated
a capacity not only for basic discovery
but also for the mangement needed to develop
commercially successful products or (b)
contributed in an important way to theoretical
studies of the process by which basic discovery
is translated into commercial applications
or into some new understanding of the social
aspects of this process.

Letters
Unit
head's letter is required indicating the financial
commitment of your unit and how this visit will
impact on the unit as a whole.
Please
request three (3) letters from different departments
or other organizations/universities.
- Applicant
prepares request for support. After submitting
your application, you continue on into the website
to generate email messages for your primary unit
head and each of three referees. These auto-generated
emails attach/enclose the Instructions
to Referees with your narrative. Just follow
the prompts and click on the "Send this
message" button.
- You
are encouraged to contact your primary unit head
and three (3) referees ahead of time and ask them
to prepare letters of support. The selection committee
cannot guarantee consideration of letters received
after the deadline.
